Finally, the original 800-year-old wooden oak beams that held our entire roof are back from restoration. We sure missed them while they were away…
Shipped to a specialty carpenter’s shop, Atelier Ferignac, it took several months to clean, strip off old bits, and treat these full-lengths of timber.
Now they are being carefully reinstalled in their original order and position, recreating the hull-shaped structure that carried the weight of our château’s ancient Lauze stone roofing.
Thank you to our devoted partners for keeping us on our toes as we advance and slowly see our Templar masterpiece get back in shape, piece by piece!
Our appreciation goes out to ABF (Architecte des Bâtiment de France), DRAC (Direction régionale des affaires culturelles), Fondation du Patrimoine, French Ministery of Culture, and the Office of the Mayor of Sergeac.
