Château Cramirat Collection

The quarterly art review Formes et Vie (Forms and Life) (1951) was an important collaboration between Le Corbusier, István Beöthy, and Fernand Léger, showcasing their work and sharing their ideas on the relationship between form and life.

“Forms that creep, scour the oceans, or perforate the clouds…”

This rare copy is the first of the two-issue run of this short-lived journal, featuring articles contributed by these three giants of arts and architecture who wanted to “define the aspects of form and its static or dynamic development with the collaboration of architects, plastics artists, designers, engineers, biologists aestheticians, and psychiatrists.”

The Château Cramirat Collection is a treasure trove of art and design by philosopher Anna Ravitzki and designer Dan Alexander, housed in a 12th-century Templar landmark in the Valley of Mankind, Périgord, France.

Le Corbusier (Jeanneret-Gris, Charles-Édouard), Léger, Fernand, and Beöthy, István. Formes et Vie. Paris: Les Editions Falaize, 1951. First edition.
